That is sort of what happened to Amber, but on a much larger scale.

09:03 am We almost had a big puppy emergency yesterday.
Philip and I were over at my dad’s house “helping” him move his hot water heater. By helping, I mean “we” did it for him. And by we, I mean Phillip did most of the work, with me as the tool fetcher. My sister came along later and brought all of her kids. They thought they were going to fish in the pond so Philip prepped their fishing poles for them. Instead of actually going fishing, they decided to leave the poles on the ground. Amber thought that the fishing bait smelled kind of good, so she took a gander. We discovered this when she was running across the yard pulling the fishing pole behind her. Luckily she did not swallow the hook; it had just pierced her upper lip. We were able to get her all fixed up in about five minutes.
The funny part is that my dad tended to her a heck of a lot faster than he did to me when I had a similar thing happen to me. When it was me with a hook through my mouth, he fixed a pot of coffee before even looking at me. To be fair though, the hook was not bothering me at all. I don’t think it was bothering Amber to much either, but she did get a little antsy when we tried to hold her down to work on her. The situation was almost made worst when we cut the barbed part of the hook off, and it fell to the bottom part of her mouth. Most of our time was spent trying to find the barbed, before we swallowed it. In the end, there was just a little blood and an happy pup.
I asked my dad if he wanted to get her a barbell for her lip since it was already pierced, but he declined.

09:01 am - From the X-Files? I was downtown last week getting my notary renewed. As I was exiting the building I noticed a sign pointing towards driver’s license renewal. I’ve been meaning to get mine fixed for quite a while, since renew sticker on the back has faded, and that confuses a lot of people about its expiration date. I would have not been able to get into a casino a few months ago if I did not have my handgun permit. Well I head that direction expecting to see a normal DMV scenario; long lines, pissed off people, and noise. Well to my surprise, there was nobody in line, and four smiling faces waiting to help me. I was able to get in and out in less than five minutes. This was extra surprising because it was towards the end of the month, a time when licenses plates have to be renewed, and it was at lunch time. Needless to say, I will be conduction all future business with the DMV at the downtown branch. Even if there is a longer wait next time, at least the people are friendly.

07:27 am - Brilliant! So the news was showing random clips from N.O. One of the clips was of an armed forces type guy knocking on a door. He of course was standing to the side as he knocked, protecting himself in case there is some crazy guy in the room who decided to fire a gun at the door. Where was the camera man filming all of this? In front of the door.

02:56 pm - My favorite story for this week. The City of Memphis if going to raise its parking meter fee, changing it from .50 cents to .75 cents an hour. This will help raise an extra $25,000 a year to a city struggling with budget problems.
In other news, the city has also decided to upgrade all of its old mechanical style meters to the new digital style. The will cost the city $75,000.
Brilliant!

09:50 pm I was flipping through the channels and happened to see a young Adam Sandler. So I stopped, and it it turned out to be an episode of The Cosby Show. In next scene, they were talking about "New Math." I've heard that saying many time before, but have never known what they are talking about. What does one do now-a-days when he does not understand something? Google it of course. Well I still don't know what exactly new match is, I did run across this. I thought it was pretty funny, so now I share. ( Read more... )

12:22 pm Apparently my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo can out perform a new Porsche in curves. Either that or the guy behind the wheel of the Porsche can't drive. I prefer to believe the first.
I was on the way to the store yesterday and the Porsche was ridding my ass. I took a curve like I have done a thousands times before. I just happened to look in my rear view mirror to see the Porsche fish tailing out of the curve.
I hope he saw me laughing at him in my rear view mirror. Current Mood: amused Current Music: Willie Nelson - Don't Fade Away

02:10 pm If somebody asked me what the best part of my day was, I think I would have to say it was when I walked out of the bathroom stall and jammed the coat hook into my eye. Luckily, there were only 3-4 people there to watch my stupidity. To bad it was the zoo so now a few little kids get to ask their mommy/daddy what the new word they just learned means. 03:01 pm Yesterday was a good day. I rode my bike the most it has been ridden so far this year. I think I must have put on about 350 miles. It started off by just looking for a place to eat breakfast. Somebody told me that they just put in a Cracker Barrel at 40 and Collierville-Arlington Rd. so that is where we headed to. When we got there, it was no where to be found, so I stopped at the gas station to ask questions. Somebody told me that it was one exit down at Lakeland to we were off again. Again, it was no where to be found. We decided to just eat at McDonalds since it was there. When we got inside, we looked at our watches and realized at was 11, so breakfast was no longer being served. Screw that, we went across the street to The Waffle House. There were about 10 people ahead of us waiting for a seat. Well screw that to, so we headed to Jackson and ate at that Cracker Barrel.
From there we rode to Loretta Lynn’s for no other reason that it was a place to go. It was a bit on the hot side, but at least it did not rain.
There was a down side to all of this. I now need to take my bike in for service and get a new rear tire. And seeing as how motorcycle tires are about ½ the size of regular tires, it will cost about twice as much.
I also got a weird tan. I will see if it will show in a pic, and if so, post it.

1. It comes on a floppy disk. 2. The install executable is install.exe

11:50 am Went to Music Fest this weekend and had a hell of a time. The only two bands that we saw were Robert Earl King and Paul Thorn. Both were excellent. The only bad experience was that they just sold Bud and Bud Light. To compensate for this, we went to The Flying Saucer for a few hours. Got lucky, because we got there about 5 min before they started to charge cover, and got the last seats available. There, Krysilus was playing. They are a great cover band with a few songs of their own. I would recommend anybody in this area to go see them if they ever get a chance. It doesn't hurt that the lead singer is pretty hot. :)
One of the highlights of the evening was watching a drunk girl. Soon after we arrived, she was carried out over some guys solder. She was completely passed out. About 20 min later, she tried to come back in, but the bouncer would not let her. This went on for 3 more hours. Every once in a while, she would make a run for the door, clinging onto anything solid etc. Lucky for the bouncer, she weighted a little over 100lbs if that much, so he was able to hold her back with one hand and check ID's in the other. That has to be a plus of being a chick. If it was a guy trying to pull that shit, I am sure the bouncer would of just decked him, and then called the cops.

11:52 am Well my father is gone for 2-3 weeks. Why does this matter? Because it means that I get to watch my puppies while he is away.
Wanna see them?
It will be a little bit of a pain in the ass, but they are worth it. I just hope they don't decide to start a chewing phase while they are staying at my house. Current Mood: bored Current Music: Down in my mind - Will Kimbrough
